Tips on how to clean your equipment after a motorbike ride
A good outing off road is the one from which you come back tired, with your heart racing and satisfied. Happy to be riding hand in hand with your m ates and, in many cases, up to your neck in dirt or mud. Motorbike clothing is an investment and, although some people leave their enduro trousers in a bag for their next ride, the ideal is to clean our equipment properly to prevent it from deteriorating and losing its colour, elasticity, etc.
Here we want to give you some tips for cleaning and extending the life of those garments that have given us so many good moments and that will not disappear no matter how much we wash them.
WASHING MACHINE OR BY HAND
Although it has traditionally been recommended to wash the TRIAL CLOTHING and enduro by hand with neutral soap, there is no doubt that this is a heavy and time-consuming task.
To find out if we can wash our trousers and offroad t-shirts In the washing machine, we must first read the instructions on the label, although the general recommendation is to do it using a delicate garment programme, at a temperature of less than 30º and without using bleach, fabric softener or oxygenated detergents. The latter products can directly affect the composition of the fabric, drying it out and making it less waterproof.
As with washing, the first thing to do is to read the label, see what the manufacturer recommends and what material the garment is made of. Polyester, for example, will break down if it gets too hot, whereas Gore-Tex reactivates its waterproofing in just a few minutes.
Our recommendation, as a general rule, is not to use the tumble dryer, as the movement of the drum itself can damage seams, linings, protections... Bearing in mind, furthermore, that the majority of enduro suits and trials dry out completely in a few hours when hung up.
It is important to remember that in order to tend our motorbike clothing it is ideal to look for a ventilated place without direct sunlight that could eat away the colour and deteriorate our motocross equipmenttrial or enduro.
By following these tips we will be able to enjoy our clothes for a long time and have them ready for the next season. We go out to ride, share and enjoy nature on our motorbikes.
