Basic off-road equipment
Off-road motorbike rides consist of riding off-road and quickly adapting to the characteristics of the terrain. As you are not riding on a road or track prepared for this purpose, it is important to be equipped to be able to carry out this activity comfortably and safely. For this reason, we are going to review the basic equipment for off-road outings with all the guarantees.
Full-face helmet
The helmet is the most important piece of protection, so it must be a full-face helmet. According to the WHO, head injuries are one of the main causes of disability and death among bikers, so it is worth investing money in a quality full-face helmet. To choose the right helmet, it is important to find the right size so that it does not move around and to opt for a model with good ventilation to provide comfort while riding.
Off road boots
Enduro boots are another essential element of protection. They protect your feet, ankles, shins and calves. In enduro, your legs are constantly exposed to the elements of the terrain, so good boots will protect you from impacts, shocks and prevent you from twisting your ankle. When choosing motocross boots, mobility and weight must be taken into account. They should allow you to move your ankles freely to a certain extent and be light to make riding easier.
Off road T-shirts
The enduro t-shirts act as a protective layer to avoid scratches. They are usually long sleeved and also protect you from the sun. It is advisable to use a jersey specially designed for motocross or enduro, as they are more abrasion resistant than a conventional jersey. When choosing a off road t-shirt it is important that it is not too loose, as it could easily get caught while riding.
Off road trousers
The enduro trousers are essential, as their material prevents them from tearing easily and ensures that we have freedom of movement. An important feature of motocross trousers is that they generally have a reinforcement in the knee area which, in addition to providing extra grip, protects us from rubbing against the bike and from possible burns with the engine or the tube.
Off road gloves
The enduro gloves help prevent cuts, bruises, burns and abrasions. In addition to providing a better grip, their padding helps to reduce vibration in our hands, thus increasing our efficiency and endurance. They are usually made of elastic and breathable fabrics and can be thin or thick, depending on your riding preferences.
Protective goggles
Off-road goggles protect our eyes from wind, dust, rain and debris, thus increasing our visibility. To do this, it is important to buy goggles that fit comfortably inside your helmet and have ventilation or an anti-fogging system.
Other protections
To practice enduro in the safest way it is advisable to add extra protection elements such as knee pads, elbow pads, back protectors and body armour which, although they will limit our movements somewhat, can be essential to avoid serious injuries in the event of a fall.
